Joint Industry Projects are a unique research investment that allows operators to receive a very large return on a relatively small investment; typically the participating organization receives deliverables worth 10-20 times the participation fee. Furthermore, joint industry project create a collaborative setting where participants gain access to industry subject matter experts and professionals from other organizations to solve current, real-world problems related to oil and gas.
Once research projects are completed, they represent a valuable knowledge repository which can be used years after completion as a foundational reference for operations and the indoctrination of new personnel. Completed JIP’s also allow new operators, mature operators moving into new areas and national oil companies to gain comparative subject matter expertise almost instantly thereby leveling the playing fields with larger and more mature operators.
